Gouverneur... The One and Only
Gouverneur is the Gateway to St. Lawrence County. And it is the only town of that name in the entire United States, but that's not the only thing that makes Gouverneur very special. This historic community was founded in 1805 and is nestled between the foothills of the majestic Adirondack Mountains and the bustling Thousand Islands of the St. Lawrence River.

Notice is hereby given that the Assessor(s) of the Town of Gouverneur , County of St. Lawrence (has) (have) completed the tentative assessment roll for the current year and that a copy has been left with Town of Gouverneur Town Clerk at 1227 US 11 Gouverneur, NY 13642, where it may be seen and examined by an interested person until the fourth Tuesday in May, May 26, 2026 The tentative assessment roll is also available for viewing on the St. Lawrence County website –www.stlawco.gov – and the town website www.gouverneurny.com per requirement of RPTL section 1590(2).
The Assessor(s), or his or her designee, will be in attendance with the tentative assessment roll.

Housing Rehabilitation Assistance
The Town of Gouverneur's Housing Rehabilitation Program has received funding through HUD Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars, administered through the NYS Office of Community Renewal to provide assistance to homeowners for rehabilitation activities necessary to help alleviate substandard conditions in their homes.
Only properties that are determined to be substandard are eligible to be assisted under this program. This handbook will explain the Town’s rehabilitation program and how it works. It is meant to be a guide to the program, not a definitive presentation of the program’s policies.
We have been awarded a 4th grant in the amount of $400,000.
